Well Folks it's been a great couple of months since I got here in September and I just want to thank you for all the prayers you've given me through out this year ever since I started my facebook group at the start of the summer. This last week has been a very strange week but things are starting to get back into a "normal" measure. I'm not going to get into the detail of it because it's something that we have to work on together as a Kaleo community but I will ask for some prayer for it because it can make or break our community.
Starting a week ago we did our guys overnight trip and we went out to mystic beach for some fun times. So we had some great guy bonding time there. The negative of that was that I chose to fall into a wave instead of into the sand when I lost my footing on one of the logs and got completely drenched. Here's a thought, lets take 13 young adults to a beach in December and give them free reign to do whatever they want to do for a day, fun fun fun, you can just guess what happened.
After exciting times at the beach we returned home for a crazy ending youth group at Warmland. well that's exactly what it was, and now i'm missing about 50-1oo strands of hair because now the boys are pulling my hair as well, oh joy. Still it was a great youth group and I had tons of fun hanging out with the boys in our small group. Before the night started our group prayed and I'm thinking that because of that extra prayer we got more out of our boys and I'm looking forward to the new year and those boys because their walk with God is just starting and I'm excited to see where they are going in the near future.
Then came the talent show. I'm sure if you guys have looked at the Kaleo blog then you would have seen some of the crazy skits we had. My skit consisted of teaching the Kaleo students the art of hugging and how to properly hug another guy or a girl who is just a friend. I did not teach the girlfriend hug because that would be awkward. Anyways this had been a great week and although Kaleo is awesome I am looking forward to going home and seeing everyone while I'm there.

So I'm writing this blog post at 6:15 in the freaking morning so its not late because the Kaleo boys are going to Mystic Beach today and if I don't get this in today it's late. So I'm going to test my writing skills while my brain is not yet working.
Anyways this week was a week of class called Foundations of Church Ministry with David Lee. Yeah I know it sounds really boring but it was actually a great class that I really enjoyed. (maybe I should have done my pre-course work...) Anyways the experience that I had in this class was cool because Prof. Lee basically took 5 minutes on the first day to explain what the churches problems were and then spent the rest of the time caring about fixing these problems and teaching us how to help. We also learned what our Spiritual gifts our and I descovered that my top gifts included counseling and music, cool huh? I kinda knew that the counseling one was coming but I never actually knew that my love of music was a gift that God has blessed me with. I'm thrilled to get to grow in that gift and use it to glorify Christ.
Along with class came yet another week of youth group "torture" as my toque was actually taken and not given back until sunday for the first time since the year started. But hey I got 5 pixie sticks for it :) yeah but I'm really starting to love these kids and I really feel a passion to help further to help lead them to Christ. Does that mean staying out here again next year? maybe I don't know yet. But through this week I've learned to trust God alot more and let him lead my future. I don't know if you all know, but that is HUGE for me. I've always been one to want to lead my own life and I've always looked forward to being independent but now that I'm learning to trust God I'm ready to get him to lead my life.
I also went for a road trip up island a bit to Nanimo (I didn't spell that right) and had a really good time up there. And also had a really good talk with Erin on the way back and had my faith renewed in the group that I can acutally get into a deeper Christian talk with one of the girls. Yeah, slowly our Kaleo family is starting to come together.
Anways thats all I have to say for now, I'm going to try and get some more sleep before I have to leave for the Beach. Later everyone!

So prayer week has come to a close and i'm going to have to say that I have grown so much this week. From the moment I first stepped into the prayer room to the last time I said "Amen" in there was a complete growing experience. About half way through the week I shared my testimony with the Kaleo group and I don't think I've ever been that honest with someone before. Nothing got left out and I completly opened up my heart into this family. I didn't know what the response was going to be from the group here but I was shocked when Jim told everyone to say how they could relate to me story. So many hurting people, people that I love that have stuggled and are stuggling through such hard times. I thank God everyday for the people here and the way they treat me like a little brother.
Anyways this was such an awesome week for me in that prayer room. The first couple of times I walked in there I felt the presence of God so strongly that I couldn't hold back my emotions and just started going off into different things. One second I was mad, the next sad, the next happy, but all the time joyful to know that the God of the universe was listening to everything I had to say and was responding in ways I can't even imagine. One of my prayers was that someone who was here at Kaleo would share their testimony and that it would break everyones hearts enough to have us all come around as a family. Wow did God answer my prayer! 2 of the girls shared their testimonies on 2 different days and completely shattered any pride left in anyone and we all came around as a great family. I know i've shared this several times now but I love this family so much and i'm thrilled to see how the rest of the year is going to go.
Now aside from Kaleo there was also a lot going on at Warmland this week. We finished our series called H2O and had a huge celebration to try and tell more people in the community of Crofton about the message Christ has for them. Also Youth this week was awesome because I was not attacked! the girls that normally steal my hat and pull my hair were not there so I had a very peaceful and relaxing Wednesday. Also on Sunday we had our last H2O morning service and it ended off great. We spent alot of time focusing on the message of the Church being a family and how it accepts everyone like they are a brother or sister, or the fact that churchs should do that. Overall this week was amazing and i'm going into my next class fine and refreshed.

So reading break is over and I've returned to Qwanoes and back to my Kaleo family. This week was more of a relaxed week with not much going on. My visit back to Ladner and T-Town was fun and quite eventful. I'll start with Sunday night last week. I atteneded DSF (which is short for Deep Spirited Friends) it's kind of a deeper service put on by South Delta Baptist Church. And while I was there I suprised everyone with not only my presence but also my haircut. It was weird because almost no one reconised me. After DSF I went for what use to be my churchly thing of going to Tim Hortons and chilled with a bunch of my friends over a nice cup of coffee.
Then Monday came around and I enjoyed doing what I do best...PLAYING VIDEO GAMES! I got my chance once again to sit down in front of my T.V. and play some xbox games and had fun mindlessly entertaining myself for hours. It's weird though because now that I'm back at camp I noticed how much time I had wasted playing video games and I don't really have that urge to play anymore. Weird how life changes like that.
Anyways Tuesday was a day of homework so I'm going to skip ahead to Wednesday. Wednesday was another day of homework for the morning but by the afternoon I was ready to go and visit my old youth group (then get pulled into helping). So I visited the Senior Highs and had a great time hanging with them for a while and saw how awesome the youth group is going with the people that moved up into the lead role at the church. Then I went over and helped the Junior Highs and when I did so I was greeted by several kids who really missed me and was almost overwhelmed with craziness (still less then the warmland youth). So that was the day on Wednesday but then the night got crazy.
Wednesday night consisted of 3 Timmies runs in one night so that should say what my night was like. First I visited Bev my "sister" and we hung out at Timmies for about an hour, then I headed home and when Benjy arrived at 11:00 pm we got in the car and blasted U2 on our way to stand in a line up to wait for the new World Of Warcraft game to come out. After about an hour of waiting the store's computer glitched and we went across the street to Wal-mart and got it in 5 minutes (so we wasted an hour in the line). After that we decided that we need to listen to more U2 so we drove out to Langley to visit Benjy's girlfriend at 1:30 in the morning. After getting scared of throwing rocks against her window we called her and then were out with 3 people on our 3rd timmies run. Then at 3 in the morning it was time to return to T-town and drop off Benjy and then head home to play my new game until 5:30 am. Talk about a long night.
Finally, it was Thurday and the day to return back to camp. WORSE FERRY RIDE OF MY LIFE! 3 and a half hours! I'm not going to be going home for a while after that ferry ride. So i'm back at camp and ready to have some great fun in our 24/7 prayer week where basicly there is one room that at least one person has to be in at all times. So if you guys could pray for me as I go through this week in talking to God because I've been in there once now and I can already feel the power of Christ working in me.
Here's A Random Photo of me for you guys it's my new look

So another crazy week of Kaleo goes by (well 5 days but shh....). Anyways this week had the great joy of being the week with the computer problems. I have been continuously hitting my head against the wall or threatening to destroy my computer. My S.V.V (Sony Vaio Vista) has decided to freeze every 10 minutes and make it so my word processor won't work anymore. So it's time for a new laptop and I have been converted into a Mac user! yes the age of the PC is ending in my life.
Ok enough about the computer that's already 5 lines in and I haven't talked about my week at all. As you might be able to tell from my Title, this has been a week of Room 211 connecting. Because of the oppertunity we have to be assigned lots of homework, we have all been confinded to our room and been getting to know each other even more. A few nights ago Jon and I were in the room for about 2 hours and we had a great talk about just randomly important things about life. (dont really want to go into detail or this post would be pages and pages long)
Other then the life stuff, Halloween was also tons of fun. Aaron and I dressed up as a Pirate and a Ninja (Arr Mate!) and walked around town doing random Pirate vs Ninja things to people and made sure kids were staying out of trouble. So youth this week was cool with all the Halloween stuff going on. Also I served at Church again this week, helping out with the video, getting better at it and maybe opening up new roads for what I'm doing this summer at camp.
Today we went Caving and i'm going to have to say, probably one of the strangest trips we've been on yet, but still tons of fun. i'll post some picutres for everyone (once I can find a computer that will let me). Enjoy your week guys!

So Kaleo continues to chug along one day at a time. But because this is Camp Qwanoes everyday decided that it wants to be on camp time and end up feeling like 2 or 3 days. one example of this was this weekend with the Juniors retreat. wow talk about a lot of work! I had a great time having an amazing cabin and having some really deep talks with my cabin. The fact that I had Benjy Starr as my Co-Counselor was a blessing because of the fact that i've been so out of contact with T-town lately that it seems like people are starting to drift away. But thats ok, before I came to Kaleo I understood that this would happen and I prepared for it. But even though it was only a weekend the time I spent with my camp friends felt like a camp week.
I also had another crazy week at Warmland youth. This week first looked like I would not have to deal with the craziness because when the girls saw that my hair was gone they seemed to leave me alone...for a time. About half and hour of peace I was once again getting attacked by a larger group of about 8 girls. The pain of being known....but no the less youth was still tons of fun and we had a good message and we seem to be starting to get through to the kids.
Aside from Qwanoes and Warmland work, this week the Kaleo team went to S.A.L.T.s in Victoria to help them to get the ships ready for the winter. While there I managed to get to know the group I went with on the first day a lot closer and I really started to feel part of the group. This feeling of becoming accepted started an entire new chapter in Kaleo for me.
So I should probably start to explain the title of this post. Starting about 3 weeks ago I started to deal with some of my pride issues. In doing so I came to the understanding that the best way to deal with pride would be to become completely broken. So over the last few weeks God took me to this place where I felt comfortable and safe. Then God "punted me off the mountian" (as Jon would say it). Everyday I started to go out and listen to Linkin Park and just scream at God. Day after day I just went out and blamed God for all the hurt that he was putting in my life, forgetting that I asked for that pain. Then a couple days ago, God broke me to the point where I was almost ready to call it quits with my faith. I broke completely and felt completely lost and felt like I could turn no where. Then after a long talk with another Kaleo student and some very long prayer I felt like I could do no more and went to sleep. Then God answered every trust prayer that I have ever asked. He showed me that the reason why I am so confused about God's trust is because I'm too focused in on just one thing and not the big picture. Now because God has shown me this great truth, I can focus on applying that truth and dealt with other things in my life that need some focus. I think one of the new songs from Anberlin puts it clear on how I'm feeling: "I can finally breathe, suddenly alive, I can finally move, cause I realize".

Oh and the reason why this is so late is because I did not want to post while I was in the middle of that Brokenness.

So the long awaited day has arrived. my shaggy hair is gone! After 4 long years of long hair getting in my eyes and whipping me in the face, I have cut most of it for a shorter style. The first cut took about 45 minutes to do and was done by a couple of Kaleo students that had little experience in cutting hair. That hair style lasted about a week before I decided to ditch the long look and go for the short Fo-hawk. So after 2 hours of still outside in the cold watching my hair falling the final product was so:
So there it is short hair
Anyways other then the haircut, we did have other things to do. We had a class with Jim this week and I had fun actually paying attention this time. I had gotten through the idea that Jim's course was just CIT and learned a lot more about Qwanoes then I knew before.
At Warmland this week I was overwhelmed at youth group by the same 3 screaming girls who this time decided that instead of playing with my hair that they would steal my hat instead. So the entire night I was running around trying to get my hat back. Next week, now that my hair is really short, I'm not wearing a hat. Warmland had their first Deeper service of the fall this Sunday night and it was a sweet experience. I was working both sound and video so I gained the experience I need to do both at church later this year and opens up more doors for what I might do this summer at Qwanoes. What I liked most the Deeper service is the fact that it was much smaller and much more focused on going a lot deeper with Christ.
Then came Guys night out. A sweet time of just boys off doing what boys do best. Eating steak. We had a great time just bonding as guys and I think it was one of the best times we've had in Kaleo so far. We had a question time where what we did was just open up and ask any questions we had about anything and as a community we could answer the questions. I can't tell you what any of the questions were but I can tell you that it helped us come together as a closer group and enjoy comforting each other in our questions.
Looking forward to whatever this week has in store!

So another week of Kaleo goes by and I still am growing and trying new and exciting things. This week we went on a Surfing trip to Tofino and I was surprised at how amazing it was! The first thing that amazed me was the fact that the forecast for when we were over there is that we were suppose to have a huge storm with waves too big to surf on the first day. But the entire time we were there it rained for a total of about 3 minutes (maybe more when we were sleeping). So this trip was the first time I've ever seen the Pacific Ocean, I mean i've seen the Juan De Fuca Straite before but never the open ocean. Surfing is something that i'm looking forward to again in the future as long as I don't get sick again :)
Me, Jon, Bruno, Jake all getting ready for some awesome surfingAnyways after we got back from the trip we had a course with Jim Badke. This course has gotten the nickname, CIT on steroids. For me its a harder course to pay attention in just for the fact that I have to remember that it's not just CIT and there is things to actually learn from it rather then just review. But it's still a great course and lots of fun because we have lots of group things to do.
Then about 15 of the Kaleo students headed home for thanksgiving. Me, having my surfing sickness still decided that I was going to stay here at camp rather then get more sick taking a ferry. And also the fact that I haven't been here for a Saturday yet and it seemed like it was time to stick around. I'm glad I stayed though because on Saturday there was only 5 of us Kaleo Students here and we managed to get pretty tight the 5 of us. Oh and I also got my haircut on Saturday. Overall this was a fun week and I'm feeling much better and I'm looking foward to Thanksgiving Dinner tonight.
Ok so another great week has gone by over here in Crofton. For the first time this year we've spent an entire week here at camp. We just come off our first course with Marv Penner and I had an amazing week. First, we had a class on Wednesday that left me with the feeling that God was telling me to go hiking up Maple Mountain to where the cross is and just sit there. So at the end of class that day I packed up some munchies and started my hike up the mountain. When I got up to the cross I just felt the need to just scream everything that was on my mind to God. Dozens and Dozens of questions just shouting them and getting frustrated at the amount of time it was taking for God to answer my questions. Then all of a sudden after 3 years of waiting for a question to get answer, God just came out and answered the question. Then I was told that although His will might hurt that it was time to let his will reign out before mine. So at the end of the week I attended Mainland Road Tour and let his will reign out before mine. I ended up making a good friend angry and causing myself to feel terrible but I went to sleep that night with a sence of peace as I knew that God's will was accomplished and not mine.
The next day I came back to camp and then went with the Warmland youth to Island Road Tour and enjoyed a very peaceful Qwanoes time. About half way through the night I was asked by Russ to talk to the youth there about how church is inportant in my life. After I finished talking in front of the youth I went and sat down and felt an old song come into my head that I had forgotten.
"my good and faithful one, my good and faithful one, my good and faithful one, Well Done"
I feel that God put this song in my head to tell me that although what I had done the night before hurt it was ok because God was happy that I finally learned my lession that I need to trust that God has a greater will for me then I do.

So this is my first week of using my blog rather then using my facebook page to update everyone on how my Kaleo year is going so far.
In the first few weeks of Kaleo we have selected churches to help out at. Being a die hard Qwanoes fanatic I choose to join the church that kind of spawned out of camp and began to work at Warmland. So my first youth group is starting up on wednesday and hearing of the reaction that all the kids in the youth had when they heard my name i'm kind of scared. when Stevie G said my name at the youth a couple of weeks ago when I was not there all the little grade 5 girls from Qwanoes remembered me and started to squeal i'm scared of the 5000 hugs i'm going to get in a few days.
Now that i'm done rambleing I can talk about how Kaleo has been in the last 2 weeks. For the ministry I'd had with the camp staff and other Kaleo students I have felt very well prepared coming off the best summer of my life. The sweetest thing I've seen in my ministry thus far was when we were on the Pacific Grace sailing the high seas and I saw the way that the full time staff ingaged with us and helped us grow in our faith on the boat.

There is the awesome crew of the Pacific Grace.
I'm going to have to say that the best part of my ministry so far since Kaleo started was when I was in the dunk tank at the Fall kick off at Warmland. Sure getting wet in luke-warm water is awesome, but doing it with a Christ base is wicked!
Now for a bit of the negative, the only thing that i've had issues with in the last week or so was that I had to go home to have to help with a friend who was dealing with some sucidal issues. Although this was a big hit to me it was ok because through this God helped me grow and also God used me to help save this person.
Truely God is a great and loving God

Hey Everybody!
So for Kaleo I had to switch my support group over to an actual blog because blogger is easier to check then a facebook group. Anyways, all updates about how Kaleo is going will end up on here along with other things and some sweet stuff.
